Abruptly lowered maximum temperatures and wind at lower level giving ‘cold-wave’ like feeling at various places across Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The weather across Gujarat remained colder today due to continuous fall in maximum temperatures caused by cold easterly winds at lower levels.

Even though the minimum temperatures remained somewhat moderate with Deesa recording the lowest at 7.6 °C, the real cause of cold-wave like feeling at many places including Ahmedabad was the unusual fall in the highest temperatures. Bhuj saw the lowest maximum at 21.4 °C which was just 10 notches higher than its minimum at 11.4 °C.

In Ahmedabad the maximum at 24.7 °C was also 4.6 °C below normal. The minimum at 12.1 °C in the city was also over a notch below the normal.

Due to the wind and low maximum temperatures most of the places felt a sudden increase in cold and some-what cold-wave like situation even though the minimum temperatures were moderate. The mean temperature remained low giving a feeling of biting cold.

The met bulletin said that the minimum temperatures would not see a large change in the next couple of days.
