Feeling of ‘Chillness’ despite absence of cold-wave to stay for at least 2 more days, weather likely to be warmer from January 30

Ahmedabad: The cold-wave like feeling due to fall in both maximum and minimum temperatures across Gujarat despite no issuance of any such warning by met on technical grounds is going to stay for two more days and from January 30 the weather is likely to become warmer,’ IMD center Director Jayant Sarkar today said.

‘Currently the chillness is there at many places because both the minimum and maximum temperatures have gone down. Maximum temperatures in particular have gone down up to 7 degree Celsius. It has caused a fall in the mean temperature and people were feeling abnormally cold. The situation is going to be like that for the next couple of days,’ Sarkar said.

‘But from January 30 due to an approaching western disturbance, the wind pattern is likely to change from current North Easterly to South Easterly. This can not only increase both the maximum as well as minimum temperatures but would also bring moisture and give relief to people from current spell of cold,’ he said.

He also said that the cold-wave warning was issued on the basis of deviation of minimum temperatures at various places but in current scenario the lowering of maximum temperatures were more responsible for the feeling of chillness.
