Gandhinagar/Patan: The Gujarat government today removed controversial Vice Chancellor of the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, B A Prajapati over charges of corruption and irregularities.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani took the decision to remove Prajapati in the wake of the state Lokayukta inquiry report in which he has been found to be involved in serious corruption charges and irregularities including misuse of powers.
Notably, local NSUI wing and PAAS activists had thrown black ink on his face in September last year.
Prajapati who was the VC of the Patan based university with jurisdiction in 4 districts of Pata, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Mahesana since December 2016 had also been the VC of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University prior to that.
Meanwhile, speculation were rife about the appointment of former Congress MLA from Unjha Ashaben Patel who has joined BJP recently, as the new VC of the university from which she had resigned as a class 2 employee to contest election.
