BJP fields Shardaben Anil Patel on Mahesana seat, Darshna Jardosh repeated on Surat seat

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced two more Gujarat candidates for Lok Sabha elections 2019. The party has announced sitting Lok Sabha MP Smt. Darshana Jardosh as party candidate for Surat seat while Shardaben Patel (wife of late Anil Patel) as party candidate for Mahesana seat. Late Anilbhai Patel was one of men behind Ganpat University of Mahesana. He was minister during the tenure of Narendra Modi as Chief Minister. He passed away last year. The party has dropped sitting MP Jayshreeben Patel and fielded Shardaben Patel in her place. Thus the party has fielded women candidates on Surat and Mahesana seats again. Rival Congress party is yet to declare the name of candidate for Surat seat. Congress has fielded retired government officer AJ Patel on Mahesana seat. BJP is yet to announce the name of candidate for Ahmedabad (East) Lok Sabha seat where sitting MP Paresh Rawal has refused to contest again.
