Total debt of Gujarat govt. Rs. 2,40,652 crore; over Rs. 18,000 crore paid as interest in 2018

Gandhinagar: Total public debt on Gujarat government was Rs. 2,40,652 crore in financial year 2018-19.
The government paid Rs. 17,178 crore as interest in 2017-18 in addition to Rs. 13,701 crore basic. In 2018-19 the government paid Rs. 18,214 crore as interest and also paid back Rs. 15,440 basic.
Interest loan rates in case of financial institutions stay at 4.75% to 8.75%. In case of market loan it is between 6.05% to 9.75%. NSSF loan attracts 9.50% to 10.50% interest rate while central debt interest rate is in range of zero to 13%.
These details were shared by finance minister Nitin Patel in reply to a question in State assembly today.
