Met issues heavy rain warning for Vadodara again

Gandhinagar: Even though only light rain has taken place in flood affected Vadodara city till late evening today, the met department has issued heavy rain warning for tonight as well as next two days.

If this happens then the ongoing rescue operations would be badly affected and the situation would become very grim.

The met bulletin issued this evening said that there were two systems around Gujarat which could cause heavy rain in several districts of Gujarat including Vadodara.

Till 6 pm this evening 172 talukas in the state had seen rain of which maximum 144 mm was in Halol of Panchmahal district neighbouring Vadodara. Kalol and Shehra talukas of the same district has seen 117 and 90 mm of rain respectively.

The synoptic situation and heavry rain warning in the bulletin is as follows –

MORNING’S UPPER AIR CYCLONIC CIRCULATION OVER NORTHWEST MADHYA PRADESH & NEIGHBOURHOOD BETWEEN 1.5 and 3.6 KM ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL PERSISTS.

MORNING’S TROUGH FROM SOUTH RAJASTHAN TO NORTHWEST BAY OF BENGAL ACROSS THE CYCLONIC CIRCULATION NORTHWEST MADHYA PRADESH & NEIGHBOURHOOD, SOUTH UTTAR PRADESH, JHARKHAND & GANGETIC WEST BENGAL BETWEEN 3.1 & 5.8 KM ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL TILTING SOUTHWARDS WITH HEIGHT PERSISTS.

DAY 1 (Today): Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places with extremely heavy falls in the district of Gujarat region namely Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Panchmahal, Patan, Mehsana, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Valsad, Navsari, Narmada, Bharuch, Dahod and in Daman Dadra Nagar Haveli. Heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar, Chhota Udepur, Surat, Dangs and Tapi. Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra- Kutch namely Bhavnagar, Botad, Rajkot, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh and in Kutch.

DAY 2: Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Patan and Mehsana. Heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Gir Somnath, Amreli and Bhavnagar.

DAY 3: Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Valsad, Navsari and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli. Heavy rains very likely in the districts of Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Surat and Bharuch.
