Heavy rain warning for parts of South Gujarat on August 26

Gandhinagar: After an over a week long break the monsoon is likely to be re-active in Gujarat on August 26 as the met has issued a heavy rain warning for the day.

The state has not seen any heavy spell of rain in the last few days even as the total rain percentage was inching towards 90% (89.21% to be precise) owing to good rain during July and first half of of August.

In the last 24 hours ending 6 am today only 29 talukas of 11 districts had seen rain with maximum 37 mm in Vyara of Tapi district while from 6 am to 6 pm only 21 talukas with moderate maximum of 30 mm in Khambhalia of Devbhoomi Dwarka district.

Met department has issued heavy rain warning for the southern districts of Navsari and Valsad on August 26 even as spells of light to moderate rains would continue.

The state forecast and rain warning in the met bulletin today is as follows-

IST of 23/08/2019):- Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at a few places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Dang, Tapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Valsad, Navsari and in Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli; at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region namely Panchmahal, Dahod; in the districts of Saurashtra- Kutch namely Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Dwarka, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot and Kutch.

Dry weather very likely in remaining districts of Gujarat region, Saurashtra and in Diu.
