Vadodara/Ahmedabad: Due to extended monsoon and continuing rainfall, all major Garba events in the city of Vadodara – the cultural capital of Gujarat – are cancelled on 2nd night of 9-day long festival Navratri.
United Way, Palace Heritage Garba and other major Navratri garba/dandiya events were declared cancelled due to mud and water logging in Garba grounds.
In Ahmedabad too, the top non-ticketed Garba event ‘Vibrant Navratri’ at GMDC ground stayed cancelled on the second night.
It’s worth noting that top ticketed Garba events at city’s Rajpath and Karnavati Club were in advance declared cancelled for first two nights.
Organizers were banking big on Sunday, the first day of Navratri and hoping for large crowd however due to rainfall, cold winds and fear of mosquito linked diseases including Dengue and Malaria, most of the people choose not to join Garba grounds.
