Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has decided to do away with at least 9 types of advances for its employees including the ones pertaining to purchase of bi-cycle, fans and food-grain.
An official of the finance department today said that the provision for such advances was made in the budget but the amount was mostly surrendered at the end of the financial year as employees hardly availed these advances for past many years.
He also said that in the wake of the increase in salaries after the implementation of the seventh pay commission at par with the central government employees such advances also looked irrelevant. Now the government has decided to do away with these advances.
The other six scrapped advances are festival advance, leave pay advance, advance for the immediate monetary relief to the family of an employee who died on duty and also advance for the travel to home to the family of such deceased employee, Travel allowance advance and other departmental purpose advance.
