Development Commissioner instructs DDO’s to remove AC’s from Panchayat officials chamber
January 06, 2020
Gandhinagar: Commissioner Rural Development in Gujarat Manoj Agrawal has instructed all the district development officers to ensure that the Air-conditioner (AC) fitted in vehicles and chambers of the panchayat level officers across the state should be removed by the end of this month.
Taking a strong exception to the fact that many of the such officers were using AC’s in their chambers/anti-chambers and vehicles even though they were not entitled for that, the Development Commissioner has issued the instructions.
The commissioner has also expressed his annoyance about the reports that many of the Panchayat officers have installed ACs in their chambers and vehicles at their own. He has instructed the DDO’s to estimate and recover the government money spent on the extra electricity/fuel consumption for the running the ACs in such offices/vehicles.
An official of the Rural Development department today said that all the DDO’s have been instructed to inform the office of the commissioner in written by January 31 whether or not all the AC’s were removed from Panchayat officer’s offices/vehicles.
