Ahmedabad: Congress had also suspended the wife of its former MLA J V Kadadiya (who had resigned from his Dhari seat), Kokilaben Kakadiya for anti-party statement and such an act which could damage the image of the party.
Kokilaben had made a sensational statement that former union minister and one of the two RS election candidates of Congress Bharatsinh Solanki had played a role in her husband’s quitting the party. She had alleged that it was Solanki who had manged to get her husanand an offer from ruling BJP which according to her had promised a party ticket in the ensuing by-poll on the Dhari seat.
Gujarat congress president Amit Chavda who also suspended Kadadiya and 4 other MLA’s , who resigned, expelled Kokilaben from the party.
Kokilaben had claimed that over a week ago when the ex-GPCC president Solanki was not yet declared a candidate for the RS polls, had ranged her up and suggested her to prompt Kakadiya to join BJP. She had alleged that Solanki had brokered a deal with BJP for her husband but later played a double-game so that his image was spoiled in the eyes of both the parties. She had claimed that her husband has not done any monetary deal with BJP but only joined it on the assurance of ticket from a ‘rising sun’ like party and to serve the people of his constituency in a better manner.
She said that Solanki had informed that Shaktisinh Gohil would be one of the two congress candidates and she had replied that he deserved to be in RS. When he said that incumbent Madhusuadan Mistry would again become the other candidate, she said that this could not be tolerated. A Patidar (her own community) deserved it better than Mistry. At that time it was not clear that Solanki would become the second candidate.
