March 19, 2020
Surat: Railways has hiked platform ticket cost from Rs. 10 to Rs. 50 in order to discourage people to gather at railway stations. However, some visitors willing to visit the platform at lower ticket cost have found the way out.
For an example, people at Surat have started buying local train tickets to travel to Udhna, Bhestan and Utran instead of platform tickets. Surat railway station witnessed rise of 40% in sell of such tickets in one day. Each such ticket would cost in range of Rs. 7 to 10. Having a ticket for rail journey to next station, people can visit the platform.
