March 24, 2020
Gandhinagar: Students of classes one to eight, nine and eleven in Gujarat will get promoted without having to appear in examinations in view of the coronavirus outbreak, said Aswhani Kumar, IAS, Secretary to Chief Minister’s office in media briefing here.
‘The decision has been taken in order to protect the students against potential infection spread, so that they can stay safe at home,’ he said while making this announcement.
Examinations in primary schools were scheduled between March/April.
The State government had earlier this month announced closure of all educational institutes including all schools, colleges and tuition classes across the State for two week till March 29.
The State has been put under complete lockdown till March 31 since last midnight.
Competitive and other recruitment examinations too have been postponed across the State.
