572 Covid19 cases so far in Gujarat

Evening bulletin:

Gandhinagar: 34 new Covid19 cases have been detected since morning briefing in Gujarat. Of them 25 new cases are detected in Ahmedabad with addition of new areas Odhav and Nava Naroda. 2 new cases are detected in Bharuch, 5 in Vadodara and 1 in Panchmahal. With this so far 572 Covid19 cases have been detected in Gujarat. There have been 7 new full recovery and discharge.

Out of total 26 persons died of Covid19, only 2 were below 40. Of them one was a 14-month old child while the other was a dengue patient whose Covid19 infection was not detected when tested for first time. This patient’s father and uncle also were Covid19 positive.  21 persons who died and were above 40 had Comorbid conditions.

Principal Secretary Health during her briefing said that as per per million testing figures, Gujarat stands on third number in the country after Kerala and Maharashtra. (Test per million – Kerala 448, Maharashtra 317, Gujarat 219).

She said the percentage of positive detection out of total tests is 4.1% in Gujarat, against 6% in West Bengal, 7% in Bihar, 10.1% in Tamil Nadu, 6% in Madhya Pradesh and 4.4% in Maharashtra.

As per ICMR data, there were 15,583 tests in last 24 hours in Gujarat, of which Gujarat did 2,536 tests which is 16% of all tests nationally, while Gujarat’s population is 5% of the nation, She said adding that the State is doing tests in movement mode.

She informed that in last 24 hours, 2,536 tests were done, of which 60 were found positive, while 1767 negative. Gujarat has so far tested 14,251 samples of which 572 have been positive.

She said the State government has planned to take daily testing capacity to 5,000 test/day mainly by roping in more laboratories of medical colleges.

In reply to media’s query she said, rapid test kits have not arrived from China in India.

She said ICMR has given permission for pull testing under which five swab tests in one test tube will be possible at one go.

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has witnessed 538 Covid19 cases so far. Of them 461 are stable 4 are on ventilator, 26 are dead and 47 discharged so far.

Out of 13, 257 samples taken so far statewide, 538 have been positive.

Among 629 tests in districts that have been so far without any single Covid19 cases, only 2 positive cases are detected, both in Banaskantha district. Among them is a child with epilepsy who visited Palanpur from Surat. The other persons in also from Palanpur and he is local.

Among two deaths in last 12 hours is a 76-year old male Ahmedabad who died in SVP hospital in Ahmedabad. He had heart and lung issues too. Another was a 27-year old male who was being treated for Dengue and could have caught in Covid19 infection due to immunity issue.

Among those discharged in last 12 hours include a 36-year old male from Rajkot, 37-year old male from Rajkot and 65-year old male from Gir Somnath.

Principal Secretary, Health in interaction:

– Over 2,000 tests in last 24 hours.

– The results of samples taken in some districts such as Dang are in process due to logistic and other issues.

-Proposals have been sent to the Centre for its nod for Covid19 tests in all medical colleges in the State. NABL approved private laboratories also can apply.

– There’s no Stage-3 district in Gujarat. Stage-1 district are those where at least 1 case is detected. Stage-2 districts are such where clusters are present. Stage-3 districts are such where Covid19 infection is spread everywhere, in community.

– Cluster containment is done when 6-7 cases are detected in an area. If there are many more cases in same area, it is treated as hotspot.
