AMC to set up another 4,000 bed Covid Care Centre

Ahmedabad: Municipal Commissioner of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in his online address said the city will have another Covid Care Centre (CCC) soon.

While existing CCC at Samras hotel of Gujarat University has capacity to accommodate 1200 Covid patients, the new CCC will have 4,000 bed capacity Commissioner said.

He added that proposed CCC will come up in Western area of city.

‘The State government has appointed a senior officer from Gandhinagar to take care of existing CCC at Samras hostel. AMC has decided to shift its team at Samras hostel CCC to set up another CCC with 4,000 bed capacity in western part of the city,’ he said.

Yesterday, AMC had announced its decision to set up one more CCC at Haj House in Kalupur area near railway station.

Coronavirus infected cases detected in tests are first sent to SVP or Civil hospital, where doctors assess the condition of patients. Around 80% Covdi19 positive patients suffer from mild infection. Many of them are asymptomatic. Such patients are not kept in hospitals, but are sent to CCC where limited number of doctors and a permanent ambulance are present to attend the patients. If some moderately infected/asymptomatic patient show any sign of complication, he/she is immediately transferred to SVP or Civil hospital.

AMC had also announced expansion of its Covid19 hospital at SVP from 500 to 1000 beds.The decision pertaining to this was taken after State government appointed a Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) level senior IAS officer from Gandhinagar to guide,supervise and implement the actions at SVP hospital.

Apart from SVP(under AMC) and Civil(under State govt) where treatment is offered for free, the State government has also permitted three private hospitals in the city to offer Covid19 treatment.

AMC has also inked pact with SG Highway based Fern hotel for those patients who can pay for their treatment. Covid Hotel Fern offers stay, meals, breakfast and room facility for Rs. 3,000/day. The hotel functions as CCC in this arrangement.
