AMA moves Gujarat High Court against govt restrictions on Covid19 tests in private labs
May 28, 2020
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) has moved the Gujarat High Court for permission to private laboratories and hospitals to carry out the RT-PCR test freely without any government restrictions and demanded to quash the government policy mandating private laboratories to seek prior approval from the State government run Civil Hospital before conducting each Covid-19 test. Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has approved 12 private laboratories and 19 government laboratories for Covid-19 testing in Gujarat. According to Monaben Desai of AMA, recommendation of doctors should be enough for Covid testing of patient. She said AMA also wants the process of Covid testing and release of its report to speed up.
