Schools will continue to remain closed completely in Gujarat even after Sept. 21: Govt

Gandhinagar: Partial opening of schools allowed by the Centre with effect from September 21 will not materialize in Gujarat.

The Centre had in its guideline for unlock-4 released in the end of the month of August stated that, ‘with effect from 21st September, 2020, students of classes 9 to 12 may be permitted to visit their schools, in areas outside the Containment Zones only, on voluntary basis, for taking guidance from their teachers. This will be subjected to written consent of their parents/guardians.’

As this provision in guideline was not binding for states, the Government of Gujarat in its cabinet meeting today decided that partial reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12, permitted by the Centre with effect from September 21st, will not be effective in Gujarat as of now in view of continuous spread of Covid-19 infection in the State.

The decision of cabinet was shared with media by Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama here. DeshGujarat
