90 per cent Covid beds in private hospitals full in Ahmedabad: AHNA
September 28, 2020
Ahmedabad: 90 per cent Covid-19 beds are occupied in private hospitals and most of ventilators are also occupied, said Dr. Bharat Gadhvi, President of Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA) today. AHNA puts update on availability and occupancy of Covid beds in private hospitals in Ahmedabad on its website regularly. Dr. Gadhvi said, anyone who is down with Covid-19 now onward may have only option to get admission in government hospitals. This situation is due to increasing number of active cases. In the beginning of the month of June, the city had over 2800 active cases, while at present the total number of active cases in the city is over 3800. Last week, Ahmedabad Medical Association had suggested government to come with some system that can ensure priority admission in city hospitals for city’s own residents. The Association in a statement said that large number of patients from other places and other states are coming to Ahmedabad for hospital admissions for Covid19 treatment which is creating an issue of availability of beds for city’s local people.
