Nominations of two Congress candidates cancelled in Rajkot

Rajkot: Nomination forms of four Congress party candidates have been invalidated by Election officer. Nomination form of Ward number four candidate Naran Savseta has been rejected as he has three children. According to Gujarat Congress Spokesperson Manish Doshi, Savseta is divorcee and he had a child from earlier marriage. He was therefore in confusion over whether two-child norm applies to his candidature or not. When he realized that the rule actually applies to his case, he submitted an affidavit before the election officer, following which his nomination form was rejected. Doshi said, party’s dummy candidate will replace Savseta and contest the election as Congress party’s formal candidate. Doshi said, the other nomination form cancelled was in the case of party candidate Bharat Shiyal from ward number one for claimed reason that party’s mandate was not produced to back his candidate. Doshi said party’s legal team was on the spot and looking into this.
