VMC election: Dipak Madhu Shrivastav’s nomination form rejected
February 08, 2021
Vadodara: Nomination form of Dipak Madhu Shiravastav for candidature in Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) election has been rejected by election officer after over three hour hearing and discussion.
BJP candidate for Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) election, Ashishbhai Joshi had alleged that independent candidate of ward number 15, Dipak Shrivastav has three children and therefore his nomination has to be invalidated as per the rules. Dipak Shrivastav is son of Waghodia BJP MLA Madhu Shrivastav. Joshi had submitted evidence that independent candidate Dipak Shrivastav has three children and he has concealed the details of his third child in nomination form. The evidence was scrutinized by officials and hearing was held which was also participated by Shrivastav’s lawyer. Dipak, it is learnt, claimed his third child, a daughter was adopted by his father and therefore she was officially no more his own daughter. However this argument was rejected by election officer. It is learnt the issue of pending/unpaid property tax was also involved. Dipak had allegedly concealed related details in his submission.
Angry with election officer’s decision, the supporters of Dipak Shrivastav ransacked the government office.
Earlier in the morning, BJP MLA Madhu Shrivastav said he would campaign for his son Dipak who is independent candidate. Shrivastav said his daughter will also contest panchayat election whether BJP gives her ticket or not. It’s worth noting that Gujarat BJP has decided not to field relatives of any party leader or elected representative. On this ground party had denied ticket to Madhu Shrivastav’s son, a two-term BJP councilor. However Shrivastav fielded his son as independent candidate against four official candidates of BJP. Now when son’s nomination form has been rejected, it has to be seen, what is the next move of Madhu Shrivastav. DeshGujarat
