219 party candidates win unopposed in local polls, informs Gujarat BJP

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it has so far won 219 seats of municipalities, taluka and district panchayats unopposed. The party after the last date of withdrawal of nominations today said it has won 24 district panchayat seats, 110 taluka panchayat seats and 85 municipality seats unopposed. The elections are to be held for over 8,000 seats of municipal corporations, municipalities, district and taluka panchayats later this month. While electoral fight will take place majorly between BJP and Congress, the other smaller parties are also in fray.
