March 31, 2021
Ahmedabad: 12 doctors working with HCG hospital here, who are part of nationwide research involving 600 doctors said, antibodies useful to fight against Covid19 infection increased in their body after having shots of Covid19 vaccination significantly and in more than sufficient number to fight infection.
‘Being a corona warrior I had checked my anti spike antibodies before vaccination also. Before vaccination I had 2 or 3 antibodies and four weeks after first dose of it increased to 58. Four weeks after second dose, the number of antibodies was 91. In some cases it was 130,’ said Dr. Urman Dhruv, senior physician and Director, Department of Internal Medicine and Diabetes at HCG Hospitals.
Antibodies required to fight Covid19 infection, increase in body by manifold after vaccination, sufficient enough for protection, said Gujarat doctors, part of group of 600 doctors who checked antibody before and after vaccination, for study. ‘Less than 12 anti spike antibodies are considered negative. In the range of 12 to 15 it is considered equivocal, and in case of above 15 antibodies, your body is considered protected,’ he added.
The doctor further added, ‘those who were infected with Covid19 see increased count of antibodies in three weeks, but after two months of recovery the count of antibodies turn negative. In such documented patients, it was observed that a month after single shot of vaccine, antibodies went upto 400! It shows that antibodies produced after Covid19 infection don’t remain intact for long, but sit in the brain and after a single shot of vaccine, they go up like anything.’
