Nitin Patel replies a query on relieving Dr. Jayanti Ravi from current post

Gandhinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel who is also Health minister today in reply to a media query said that a decision on when to relieve Dr. Jayanti Ravi from his current post and whom to appoint to replace her is privilege of the Chief Minister and he will take a decision on this considering the timing and situation.

Dr. Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary of Health department in Government of Gujarat has been transferred to head Auroville Foundation in Tamil Nadu by the Central government recently. However she has not joined the new post.

In reply to a media query, Nitin Patel today said, ‘Dr. Jayanti Ravi had met me about three-four months ago personally and asked whether she should propose the Central government for her posting for Auroville Foundation. I gave her my consent and asked her to apply for the post. The Government of India has made her appointment to head Auroville Foundation recently. It is Chief Minister’s privilege to decide when she should be relieved and who should replace her as Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department.

Patel congratulated Ravi for her appointment on “prestigious position.”
