Shahbuddin Rathod’s son files Police Complaint against a Youtube Channel owner

Rajkot: Famous humorist and Padmashree awardee stage artist Shahbuddin Rathod has been cheated by a person as per a complaint filed by his son Afzal in Cyber Crime department of Rajkot Police.

Complainant Afzal Shahbuddin Rathod (42) has in his complaint stated that his father is 84 and he has been catering family entertainment through his humor for last 51 years as a stage artist. A common friend had introduced Shahbuddinbhai to Rajkot based channel operator Ritesh Kantilal Kakkad (48) who proposed an idea of making a Youtube channel of Shahbuddinbhai. It was agreed that Ritesh would get 20 per cent share from Youtube revenue as service charge, while 80 per cent revenue will go to Shahbuddinbhai.

As per complaint draft, an official Youtube channel namely ‘Shahbuddin Rathod Official’ was started on Rathod’s 83rd birthday on 9 December, 2019. As per the agreement, Ritesh was only permitted to upload two videos ‘Prem na panthe’ and ‘Hoy jo aa maaru antim pravachan’ initially on Youtube channel. Ritesh was also allowed to upload all videos of Shahbuddinbhai’s performances that take place in future after the date of agreement.

However Ritesh Kakkad as per the complaint uploaded 110 clips of Shahbuddinbhai’s various performances that had been performed before the date of agreement. The Youtube channel in dispute has as on 8 September received 28.33 lakh vies and nearly 28,000 subscribers. However no revenue was received in Shahbuddinhbhai’s account as per complainant.

Three months after start of channel, payment was released by Ritesh and some cheques were given to Shahbuddinbhai but a complainant who is Shahbuddinbhai’s son, got to know that accused Kakkad had opened Youtube account of Shahbuddinbhai through his own Gmail ID and mobile number and therefore Shahbuddinbhai and his son had no access to it.

A complaint in this regard has been filed by Shabuddinbhai’s son in Cyber Crime department of Rajkot Police. DeshGujarat
