Nine dead in Maruti Eco car – Truck accident near Tarapur

Anand: Nine persons travelling in Maruti Eco car on way from South Gujarat to Bhavnagar were dead in truck-Eco car accident near Tarapur at Indranaj today morning on Tarapur – Vataman stretch of highway.

Those killed in accident were from Vartej in Bhavnagar district. Their bodies were taken to Tarapur referral hospital.

A truck was loaded and it was coming from Morbi. Truck driver and cleaner escaped from the place after accident and police was in search of them.

SP, DySP, District Collector and other top officials rushed to the spot.

Chief Minister Rupani expressed grief over this incident and spoke to district collector of Anand over telephone. The government said it is going to announce relief later.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister in a tweet through @PMOIndia twitter handle said: Saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Anand district in Gujarat. Condolences to those who lost their near and dear ones. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of those deceased. DeshGujarat
