GST Superintendent, Inspector held in bribe case by ACB Gujarat

Vadodara: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has nabbed two officials of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department in Vadodara today.

Accused Nitin Ramsingh Gautam is Superintendent of CGST in Vadodara – 2, while Shivraj Satyanarayan Meena is Inspector working for CGST for the same office.

Both are held for seeking and receiving Rs. 2,50,000 bribe.

A complainant in this case owns Jay Kuber Flour & Food Products Pvt Ltd at Baska in Halol taluka of Central Gujarat. He sells water, soft drinks and snacks items through his company.

According to details of the case provided by ACB, accused Ramsingh and other GST officials had carried out search in complainant’s factory and after doing panchnama asked complainant to appear before CGST Vadodara – 2 office on 22 June. Accused Ramsingh asked complainant to pay Rs. 10 lakh or face sealing of his factory. He took Rs. 50,000 as first installment on the same day and then started asking for payment of balance amount of bribe repeatedly.

A complainant businessman didn’t want to pay bribe and therefore contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and accused Shivraj Meena was held while receiving bribe of Rs. 2,50,000 on behalf of accused Ramsingh. ACB has initiated legal procedure against both. DeshGujarat
