Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat today nabbed Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) cop Lalit Makwana of Mandal Police Station in Ahmedabad district for seeking and receiving Rs. 25,000 bribe.
A complainant was into country liquor business. He was giving Rs. 15,000 per month for police sub inspector (PSI) and Rs. 10,000 to beat jamadar. The accused demanded monthly bribe last month in routine course, however a complainant refused to give it as his liquor business was not doing well. A complainant also showed inability to pay bribe as his maternal grand father and grand mother had died.
Three days ago, the accused met a complainant in person and demanded pending monthly bribe payment of Rs. 25,000. However a complainant replied that he had discontinued his liquor business and therefore he was unable to pay the sum.
Accused cop threatened complainant to “fit” him in fake case of liquor and seize his rickshaw. A complainant was compelled to pay bribe. He however contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and accused was nabbed while receiving bribe.
