ACB Gujarat nabs Deputy State Tax Commissioner, middleman, others in bribe case

Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed Narsihbhai Sardarbhai Pandor, Deputy State Tax Commissioner and three others in Rs. 1 lakh bribe case today.

According to ACB, a complainant has partnership firm. As the firm had not filed GST return for year 2015-16, GST department had closed the GST number of the firm. A complainant had therefore filed application for restoration of GST number of firm and contacted Deputy State Tax Commissioner Narsimhbhai Sardarbhai Pandor who is a class – 1 officer working with the Government of Gujarat.

Pandor had asked complainant to meet Kishorchandra Kantilal Patel, a lawyer and tax consultant and prepare a file and demand Rs. 2 lakh bribe to restore GST number.

A complainant had accordingly contacted Kishor Patel who prepared a file and submitted it to GST department. After this, a complainant gave Rs. 50,000 bribe to Kishor Patel to and met Narinh Pandor demanding some concession in Rs. 1.50 lakh balance amount of bribe. After bargaining, the final balance amount payable was fixed by Narsih Pandor at Rs. 1 lakh. Pandor instructed to pay this amount to Kishor Patel.

A complainant was clearly instructed to pay the balance amount of bribe at soonest to get back GST number.

As complainant didn’t want to pay bribe, he contacted ACB and gave a complaint following which, a trap was arranged and bribe was paid to Dharmesh Goswami and Vinay Patel who work in Kishor Patel’s office.

A complainant used Kishor Patel’s mobile phone to speak to Pandor to convey that bribe amount was paid.

All four accused are nabbed by ACB. DeshGujarat
