Emergency Landing Highways for IAF planes to be constructed in Gujarat too

Bhuj: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated emergency landing field (ELF) for the aircrafts of Indian Air Force at National Highway 925 at Gandev-Bakhasar stretch in Barmer of Rajasthan.

Indian Air Force aircraft Hercules C-130 did mock emergency landing on the NH 925 with both the Union ministers and Chief of Defense staff General Bipin Rawat. The landing of Sukhoi-30 fighter jet, Mi-17V5 helicopters and AN32 transport aircraft was also performed at this occasion.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said on this occasion that such kind of ELF will be developed at 19 places across the country including Bhuj-Naliya Highway of Kutch, Surat-Vadodara highway, Phalodi-Jaisalmer highway and Barmer-Jaisalmer highway in Rajasthan.
