ACB Gujarat nabs four including TDO in Rs. 2 lakh bribe case

Gandhinagar: Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed the accounting assistant, W.D.T. Agro, Taluka Development Officer (TDO) and additional assistant engineer of Shahera Taluka Panchayat office in Panchmahal for accepting a bribe of Rs 2,00,000.

The complainant had received the tender after government order for works under MNREGA scheme for which he had supplied raw-materials for the works of road, well and check-wall under MNREGA in Shahera taluka. The checks for the bills of Rs 2,75,00,000 under MNREGA scheme and Rs 1,71,00,000 under RRP scheme were approved for his work from Shahera taluka panchayat office. The accused accounting assistant Hemant Mafatbhai Prajapati, W.D.T. Agro Kirtipal Indrasinh Solanki and TDO Zarina Wasim Ansari had allegedly taken various amounts from him regarding the same. Later, accused accounting assistant and W.D.T. Agro had demanded a bribe of additional Rs 1 lakh for each and the accused TDO demanded a bribe of Rs 2,45,000 via the accused additional assistant engineer Riyaz Rafiqbhai Mansuri from the complainant. The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe.

During the trap executed by ACB, the accused accounting assistant, W.D.T. Agro and the additional assistant engineer had reached the complainant’s office to accept the bribe. Each accounting assistant and W.D.T. Agro was found accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant and the additional assistant engineer, who had come on behalf of TDO to accept the bribe, didn’t accept the bribe due to suspicion.
