Gujarat High Court stays recruitment process in State Information Department
December 21, 2021
Gandhinagar: Gujarat High Court has stayed recruitment process for class-1 and class-2 appointments in State Government’s Information department. Some candidates who had applied for the job and passed written exams had questioned the method of interview and demanded re-interview and creation of a waiting list.
The applicants had alleged that not all members of five-person panel were present for taking interviews. The applicants alleged that as per an ideal practice, each member of panel requires to give 100 marks. However due to absence of members of panel during interview, the proportion was not maintained and the principle of equal opportunity was breached. On the first day of interview only four members were present while on the second day only two members were present and therefore all five members were not present during the interview.
The applicants have also asked that when the government has Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC), why its department conducted the exam on its own. The chairman of interview committee was not part of the interview process as he was busy. The applicants have also alleged that one of the members of the panel Falguni Vasavada was regularly posting updates on Twitter and giving tips regarding what to do and what not to do in the interview. This was unfair practice on her part as she had identified self as one of interviewers and therefore created a situation in which some candidate could contact her. This creates doubts over fairness of interview. Applicants have also argued that there was no clarity made in job advertisement for reservation of specially able candidates. DeshGujarat
