Owners to be allowed to retain old number in case of scraping or selling of vehicle: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: The vehicle owners will be able to retain their old vehicle number of their choice when scraping or selling the vehicles in the state.

Minister of transport Purnesh Modi while making this announcement today stated that it is decided to implement vehicle number retention policy in Gujarat after Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal considering the demands of applicants. The vehicle owners will be able to retain their vehicle number twice as per this policy, he added.

In case of transfer of vehicles, the retained number will be allocated to the newly bought vehicle and the new number will be allocated to the old vehicle which has undergone transfer of ownership. In case of scrapping, the retained number will be allocated to the newly bought vehicle and another number will be given to the old vehicle being scrapped.

The vehicle owner can only retain the number of new vehicles bought by him, it can not be retained for the old vehicles. It is mandatory that the ownership of the vehicle whose number is to be retained and the vehicle on which the number is to be retained should be of the same person. The vehicle owner should have the ownership of a minimum 1 year of the vehicle for retaining its number. The type of both the vehicles should be the same. The vehicle number of the earlier scrapped vehicles can not be retained. The process of allocation of the retained number to the new vehicle should be completed within 15 days.

The fees will be similar to the provisions of the fee decided for choice numbers. For the two wheelers, it will be Rs 8000 for golden number, Rs 3500 for silver number and Rs 2000 for other numbers. For other vehicles, the fees will be Rs 40,000 for golden number, Rs 15000 for silver and minimum Rs 8000 for other numbers.

વાહન વ્યવહાર મંત્રીશ્રી પૂર્ણેશભાઈ મોદીએ જણાવ્યુ છે કે, રાજયના નાગરિકોને તેમની પસંદગીનો નંબર હવે પુનઃમળી શકે એ માટે રાજયસરકારે મહત્વનો નિર્ણય કર્યો છે.વાહન ચાલકો હવે વાહનનો જુનો નંબર રીટેન કરી શકશે એ માટે  વાહન સ્ક્રેપ થાય કે અન્યને વેચે તો પણ એ જ નંબર વાહન ચાલકોને ફાળવવામા આવશે.

મંત્રીશ્રી મોદીએ ઉમેર્યુ કે,વાહન માલિકો તેઓની અલગ-અલગ પ્રકારની વ્યક્તિગત, ધાર્મિક, સામાજીક કે ન્યુમરોલોજી વગેરે માન્યતાના આધારે તેઓના વાહન માટે ચોક્ક્સ નોંધણી નંબર મેળવવાનો આગ્રહ રાખતા હોય છે. વાહન માલિકોની તેઓના નંબર સાથે જોડાયેલ લાગણી-માન્યતાને કારણે જુના વાહનોના નંબર રીટેન રાખવાનો આગ્રહ રાખતા હોય છે એને ધ્યાને લઈને આ નિર્ણય કરાયો છે

મંત્રીશ્રીએ ઉમેર્યુ કે,વાહન વ્યવહાર દ્વારા અરજદારોની રજુઆતો ધ્યાને લઇ દિલ્હી, ઉત્તરપ્રદેશ તથા પશ્ચિમ બંગાળની જેમ ગુજરાતમાં પણ વ્હીકલ નંબર રીટેન્શનની પોલીસીને અમલમાં મુકવાનો આ નિર્ણય કરાયો છે આ પોલીસીમાં વાહન માલીક બે વખત તેઓના વાહન નંબર રીટેન્શન કરી શકશે.

તેમણે ઉમેર્યુ કે,વાહન માલિક જ્યારે વાહનની તબદીલીની અરજી કરે તે સમયે તે વાહનનો નંબર રીટેન કરી વાહન માલિક દ્વારા ખરીદાયેલા નવા વાહનોને જે તે રીટેન કરેલ નંબર ફાળવવામાં આવશે અને માલિકી તબદીલ થયેલ વાહનને અન્ય નવો નંબર ફાળવવામાં આવશે. તબદિલ થયેલ વાહનને અન્ય નંબર ફાળવવામાં આવશે.વાહન સ્ક્રેપ થતું હોય તે સમયે વાહન માલિક દ્વારા નવા ખરીદાયેલા વાહન પર જુના વાહનનો નંબર રીટેન કરી શકાશે અને જુના સ્ક્રેપ થનાર વાહનને અન્ય નંબર ફાળવવામાં આવશે.

તેમણે ઉમેર્યુ કે,વાહન માલિક પોતનો વાહન નંબર પોતાના દ્વારા ખરીદાયેલા નવા વાહનો ઉપર જ રીટેન કરી શકશે. જુના વાહન ઉપર વાહન નંબર રીટેન થઇ શકશે નહી. તેમજ જે વાહનનો નંબર રીટેન કરવાનો છે તે તથા જે વાહન પર નંબર રીટેન કરવાનો છે તે બન્‍ને વાહનોની માલિકી એક જ વ્યક્તિની હોવી જરૂરી છે. વધુમાં જે વાહનનો નંબર રીટેન કરવાનો છે તે વાહનની માલિકી વાહન માલિક પાસે ઓછામાં ઓછા એક વર્ષની હોવી જોઇશે અને બન્ને વાહનોના પ્રકાર સમાન હોવા જરૂરી છે.

અગાઉ સ્ક્રેપ થઇ ચૂકેલ હોય તેવા વાહનોનો નંબર રીટેન કરી શકાશે નહી. રીટેન કરવામાં આવેલ નંબરની સામે ખરીદાયેલ નવા વાહનને રીટેન કરેલ નંબર ફાળવવાની પ્રકિયા ૧૫ દિવસમાં પુરી કરવાની રહેશે. ત્યારબાદ રીટેન કરેલ નંબર નવા વાહનને ફાળવી શકાશે નહી. ટ્રાન્સફર કે સ્ક્રેપ થતા વાહન જેનો નંબર રીટેન કરવાનો છે તેને નવો વાહન નંબર ફાળવવાની પ્રકિયા વાહન નંબર રીટેન્શન કર્યાની સાથે તુરંત કરવાની રહેશે.

મંત્રીશ્રીએ ઉમેર્યુ કે,વાહન નંબર રીટેન્શન માટે અગાઉ જેમ ચોઇસ નંબર માટે નિયત કરેલ ફીની જોગવાઇ મુજબ જ ટુ વ્હીલરના ગોલ્ડન નંબર માટે રૂ.૮,૦૦૦/-, સિલ્વર નંબર માટે રૂ.૩,૫૦૦/- અને અન્ય નંબર માટે રૂ.૨,૦૦૦/- અને અન્ય વાહનો માટે ગોલ્ડન નંબર માટે રૂ.૪૦,૦૦૦/-, સિલ્વર નંબર માટે રૂ.૧૫,૦૦૦/- અને અન્ય નંબર માટે રૂ.૮,૦૦૦/- મિનીમમ ફી ચુકવવાની રહેશે.
