Queues at testing centers for covid tests in Ahmedabad as cases rise

Ahmedabad: The city reported over 6 thousand fresh cases of covid-19 in a day yesterday which is the highest number of fresh cases of covid-19 reported in a day in Ahmedabad so far.

Ahmedabad city reported 5998 cases and Ahmedabad district reported 80 cases, taking the total number of cases at 6078. It is the highest number of fresh cases followed by 5864 fresh cases reported in Ahmedabad on 25th April 2021. Total 3 deaths were reported in Ahmedabad due to covid-19 yesterday. The 3 deaths were reported in Ahmedabad after a period of 224 days as 3 deaths were earlier reported on 9th June 2021. Around 70 percent cases out of 5998 cases were reported in the areas of West zone.

A Total 24 thousand tests were done in the city out of which 6 thousand people had tested positive for covid-19. So, the positivity rate is 25 %, which means every fourth person tested positive for covid-19 out of those who appeared for testing. However, 350 patients were hospitalized within 24 hours out of 5998 cases. The testing dome in Vastrapur area near Vastrapur lake witnessed a row of over 30 to 35 people for the testing. total 105 micro-containment zones are active in the city at present.
