Illegal hotel owner throws LPG cylinder towards VMC office bearers, arrested

Vadodara: A hotel owner, illegally running a hotel on Rana samaj land in front of Kasamala Kabrastan in Karelibaug area in Vadodara city threw a gas-cylinder towards the deputy mayor and standing committee chairman of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), spoke abusive words and gave threats of suicide by showing a knife.

Deputy Mayor Nandaben Joshi, standing committee chairman Dr Hitendra Patel, local councillor Manoj Patel and city BJP chief Dr Vijay Shah had visited a hotel running illegally on Rana samaj land in front of Kasamala Kabrastan in Karelibaug. The hotel owner Hussain Sunni had become angry after the deputy mayor Nandaben Joshi and standing committee chairman Dr Hitendra Patel asked for the evidence of land ownership and hotel permission.

He started speaking abusive words to them and threw a gas cylinder towards them. He then also gave threats of committing suicide by showing a knife. However, the officials called the demolition team and police and demolished the hotel along with police bandobast.

VMC Mayor Keyur Rokadiya appealed to the collector office to undertake demolition of illegal constructions in the land under the collector’s control, following this matter. DeshGujarat
