Life term to two rapists in Navlakhi gangrape case of Vadodara

Vadodara: A local court here has sentenced lifetime imprisonment to the convicts of Navlakhi gangrape case.

The court has declared both accused namely Kishan Mathasuriya (30) and Jasha Solanki(23) guilty under POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act’s section 6/1. The verdict was delivered after 26 months of crime. The crime-branch had completed the investigation within 45 days after nabbing the accused. A special government lawyer was appointed for this case and the hearing was made in the fast track court.

The incident took place on 28th November 2019. Police filed a chargesheet on January 22 in year 2021. The case trial had began five days later on January 27.The convicts had raped a 14 year old girl at Navlakhi ground. Charges were framed under IPC 376 (2)(M)(N) (While committing rape causes grievous bodily harm or maims or disfigures or endangers the life of a woman; or commits rape repeatedly on the same woman), 376(3) (Rape on a woman under the age of 16, the punishment is a minimum of 20 years imprisonment extendable to life), 376 DA (Punishment for Gang-Rape of Woman under 16 years of age), 377 (Unnatural offences), 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 114 (Abettor present), 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
