Gujarat Congress Spokesperson Jayrajsinh Parmar leaves the party

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Congress spokesperson Jayrajsinh Parmar has left Congress party. He made this announcement today. Jayrajsinh was known as the most aggressive spokesperson of Gujarat Congress in TV debates on Gujarati news channels.

‘I have been in Congress party for last 37 years. Like an auto rickshaw I am today zeroing and resetting my meter and starting afresh. I have resigned from the party but not from politics,’ Jayrajsinh said.

He said, ‘I had challenged the system of the party and therefore they put me aside. Those who have not been able to win the election are advising others how to win.’

Jayrajsinh, visibly upset with new State party chief Jagdish Thakor over the formation of party organization said he would refrain to attack any particular leader. He said, party leader CJ Chavda is my friend, but he was not in position to help me. Indravijaysinh is my junior in party and my friend. I have nothing to say against any particular party leader as the party has been like my mother.

Yesterday, some prominent Congress leaders and their supporters from Mahesana district in North Gujarat had joined BJP. Reacting to this Gujarat Congress chief Jagdish Thakor had said that it makes no difference to Congress party if five to twenty five party men leave the party.

To this, Jayrajsinh today said, ‘it’s not about five to twenty five people leaving the party. I would tell him that only five to twenty five people will be left in the party at the end. Little drops make the mighty ocean.’

When asked what does he hope from BJP if he joins it, Jayrajsinh said he was undecided yet about this, but added, ‘my eyes have undergone cataract surgery and my heart has undergone stent placement, but I have got nothing in Congress party in these 37 years. Now what can I expect elsewhere while foraying afresh.’

He however added that wherever he go, he would be a same aggressive leader.

It’s worth noting that Jayrajsinh is relative of Congress party’s national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil. He is also relative of Gujarat BJP TV debate panelist Kishansinh Solanki. He had been leader of opposition in Mahesana district panchayat in the past. He had sought the ticket to contest from Kheralu assembly constituency in the past, however the Congress party had denied him a ticket. Jayrajsinh was so aggressive Spokesperson and TV debate panelist for Gujarati channels that once when he crossed the limit in debate with BJP leader Bhavnaben Dave, the BJP had boycotted all TV debate in which he participated. Once, BJP TV panelist Shraddha Rajput had also complained that Jayrajsinh had crossed his limit while targeting her. Jayrajsinh’s exit has therefore surprised the people. If he joins BJP, which looks just a matter of time, it would be even more surprising because he is primarily known as an aggressive Congress TV debate panelist who hits BJP hard.

Jayrajsinh said he has good friends in BJP and he has visited the Chief Ministers including Vijay Rupani and Bhupendra Patel. Devusinh, the Minister of State in the Centre and Lok Sabha MP from Kheda has been Jayrajsinh’s good friend from earliest days when Devusinh was also in Congress party.

Jayrajsinh had made his displeasure with party public in a tweet on January 27 this year. He had said that Congress party has always been centered around the members of parliaments and members of legislative assembly. How Congress organization’s importance would grow when the organization people have no place in the party?
