February 21, 2022
Rajkot: Gujarat Congress’s working president Hardik Patel claimed in a press-conference today here that the Patidar Andolan (agitation) will be started again if the police cases filed against people of Patidar community in connection with year 2015/16 agitation are not withdrawn before 23rd March.
He said that the Patidar Anamat Andolan was not limited to the Patidar community but it has benefited people of many other communities. Former CM Anandiben Patel had withdrawn 140 cases against people of Patidar community, he stated and added that the cases are filed against 4 to 5 thousand patidars at present. He said that 32 cases have been filed against himself. He said that the cases against patidars were not withdrawn after Vijay Rupani became chief minister. He added that they will give memorandums for withdrawal of cases, ask for the support of MLAs and MPs and start hunger strike out of their residences if they don’t give support. Another leader of year 2015/16 quota agitation Alpesh Kathiriya (Surat) has supported Hardik’s agitation call.
Gujarat is going to witness general elections of State assembly later this year, possibly in the month of Decemeber. Patidar card had been played ahead of previous general elections in year 2007, 2012 and 2017 as well in attempt to damage ruling BJP. DeshGujarat
