Gujarat govt to move a bill for act against stray cattle menace

Gandhinagar: The state government has stated before the high court that a draft bill to curb the stray cattle menace in the city is prepared which will be introduced as a law at the earliest.

The government lawyer had made the submission as a response to a PIL seeking a complete ban on stray cattle and stringent provision against the violators. The notices were issued by the court to the state government, Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). The further hearing is scheduled on 2nd March.
Advocate Nilay Patel had filed a petition as party in person. He contended most cattle owners don’t feed the cattle and release them to fend for themselves on roads. The cattle then consume plastic, garbage, and other non edible material. Such people endanger the lives of fellow citizens. It is the duty of every person to look after any pet or animal under his charge while ensuring no harm is caused to it, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
