Gujarat govt starts delivering financial assistance to farmers for purchase of smart phones

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today launched the distribution of assistance for purchase of smart phones to the farmers. He distributed Rs. 1.84 lakh financial assistance to 33 farmers to start in a symbolic ceremony.

The aid of Rs 3 crore 37 lakh was distributed to the 5900 farmers across the state under smart-phone aid distribution scheme. The scheme is launched by the agriculture, farmers welfare and cooperation department of the state government with a provision of Rs 15 crore.

Over 3.5 thousand farmers across the state from 70 different places remained present in the program according to a note released by State government.

Chief Minister Patel said that the farmers will be able to get the details of various reliefs and loans, weather forecast, fertilizer, seeds and farming methods at one click through smart phones. The number of online applications through the i-Khedut portal started by the state agriculture department has reached 27 lakh 30 thousand within a year.
