Gujarat govt may scrap class – 10 board exams from next year: Report
February 24, 2022
Gandhinagar: Gujarat government is likely to scrap Class 10 board exams from next year, as per a report of Times of India.
TOI report states that the Gujarat government has initiated an exercise to adopt the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which recommends doing away with the class 10 board examination system with the rationale of reducing the burden of board examinations that students face in 10th and 12th standards.
The report quoting a source, further claims that Gujarat, being PM Narendra Modi’s home state, aims to take the lead in implementing recommendations of the NEP, as per a source in the government.
The NEP envisages a 5+3+3+3 structure instead of the existing 10+2 system. The government intends to implement the new system from the 2022-23 academic year itself, as per a source close to the development, states TOI.
