ACB Gujarat nabs irrigation department clerck in bribe case

Morbi: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed a charge clerk of the Deputy executive engineer’s office of Machchhu-2 of irrigation subdivision in Morbi in a bribe case involving sum of Rs 4000.

The complainant had not filed an application for getting irrigation water supplied from Machchhu dam in 2 out of 3 lands owned by him. He didn’t make use of irrigation water. The accused clerk Jagdishbhai Jethalal Dave told the complainant that he had used irrigation water for the land for which he had not given an application and he can charge a legal penalty for the same.

The accused had further said that an amount of Rs 6000 should be paid if he is not willing to pay the penalty, but he can pay Rs 4000 for the same instead of Rs 6000. The complainant contacted ACB as he was not willing to pay the bribe. The accused was found taking a bribe of Rs 4000 from the complainant during a trap executed by ACB on 25th March. ACB has detained the accused.
