Hindu youth beaten to death over inter-faith love affair in Rajkot; Accbused nabbed

Rajkot: A 22-year old Hindu youth beaten to death by his Muslim girlfriend’s brother allegedly over interfaith love in Rajkot. Bhaktinagar police have nabbed the accused Shakir Rafik Kadiwar and Abdul Aslam Ajmeri in this case.

The man named Mithun Thakur (age: 22) mainly from Bihar and working in a local factory had an affair with 18-year old Sumiyya Kadivaar for the past few months. Both stayed in the same neighbourhood in Radha Krishna society at Jungleshwar main road in Rajkot. Mithun Thakur was allegedly beaten by Sumiyya’s brother after which he died due to injuries at Ahmedabad civil hospital. Sumiyya Kadivaar tried to commit suicide by slashing her wrist after hearing about the death of Thakur. She survived after being taken to a hospital.

The accused Saakir answered the call when Thakur called Sumiyya on her mobile phone at around 10 am on 9th May. They got into a heated argument and the accused threatened him with dire consequences. The accused Saakir allegedly reached Thakur’s home along with 3 others and beat him on 11th May. Thakur was taken to Rajkot civil hospital by a neighbour who noticed him lying unconscious at his home. The doctors at Rajkot civil hospital referred him to Ahmedabad considering the severe injuries and brain hemorrhage.

Summaiya’s parents are divorced and her mother works as a labourer at a private company.
