Mahesana: Groups of local people decided to hold late night gramsabhas today to demand taluka status for Gozariya and Ambliyasan villages of Mehsana district.
Apart from the village folks, meetings in both the villages are likely to be attended by politicians from nearby villages, sarpanches, members of the respective taluka and district panchayats to ensure that the demand for taluka status reaches the ears of the state government.
Just two days ago, 33 sarpanches had held a meeting in Saldi to demand taluka status for Langhnaj.
The rising demands in the villages of Mehsana district for being recognized as talukas ahead of state polls are loaded with political overtones.
In fact there’s a pattern. Recently in the Central Gujarat, a demand was made by certain local group to declare new taluka namely Raas. DeshGujarat
