Anti power theft team of power supply company attacked in Bhalej

Anand: Police have registered a complaint against two individuals for assaulting a team from a power supplying company, who were ascertaining a tip-off they had received about power theft going on at Bhalej village.

According to the details available, the team from the power supplying company under the leadership of the junior engineer asked one Illyas Miya, living in Sharif Mohalla of Bhalej, to open the door of his house after discovering that he had tampered with the electricity meter.

At this time, Illyas Miya began attempts to remove the external unit of the air-conditioner at his home. This was noticed by the team from the power supply company and one of the team members began video-recording this action of Illyas Miya.

Just when the video-recording was going on, another person wearing a black tee-shirt arrived at the spot and threatened the employee to delete the video.

An emboldened Illyas Miya then started shouting profanities and attacked the team members from the power supply company with plastic chairs. The Deputy Engineer of Bhalej sub-division has lodged a complaint regarding this incident with the Bhalej police, who have initiated legal proceedings against two individuals including Illyas Miya.
