Kejriwal in Gujarat said corruption ended in Punjab; events show different picture

Gandhinagar: Delhi Chief Minister and the convener of the Aam Admi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal had in his friendly interaction with two television channels during his visit to Gujarat on 2nd April said, “We’ve ended corruption in just 20 days in Punjab since Bhagwant Mann became the CM. We have not reduced corruption, but ended it.”

Bhagwant Mann had taken oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab just a few days ago before that on 16th March.

In a dramatic turn of events, Bhagwant Mann, just two months later, has sacked his senior minister Dr. Vijay Singla, who has been accused of corruption and subsequently arrested after concrete evidence against him emerged.

Dr. Singla served as health minister in the Bhagwant Mann cabinet and is an MLA from Mansa. He was allegedly demanding a “one percent commission” in tenders and purchases of his department.

Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party BJP Leader Gaurav Bhatia said, “It has been 68 days for the AAP government of Punjab… The people of Punjab and the country are saying that wherever you go, corruption itself reaches there.”

Previously, on May 12th, another AAP MLA Jagsir Singh was accused of soliciting Rs 60 lakh in ‘bribes’ from truck owners. However, MLA Jagsir Singh refuted the allegation and said, “I will resign from my post if the allegations are proven.”
