AAP Mehsana chief, others booked in assault case; Victim complainant injured and hospitalized

Mahesana: Aam Admi Party (AAP)’s Mahesana district unit president Bhagat Patel and others are booked in assault case.

Ahmedabad based Pankaj Jaydev Barot (37) has in a complaint stated that he is into the private event management business. On 5th June, he along with his friend Girish Vadudev Pehlani were putting up banners with the agency persons starting from 9 pm. At around 12.30 am on 6th June, when banners were being put up at Modhera chokdi, four persons came in Eco car and asked why banners were being put up. When replied that the banners were being put up to ask some questions to Arvind Kejriwal in democratic manner, one of four persons dialed the phone and called other persons. Four more persons soon arrived on two Active two-wheelers.

“They then started beating me up using dhoka(bat). One of them was a person named Bhagat. He was in possession of a sharp cutter. He tried to cause me injury using that sharp cutter. However I rescued myself for a while. A golden chain I was wearing around my neck was also missing during this attempt to rescue myself. Meanwhile my aid Girishbhai Pehlani and other persons from the agency intervened and rescued me from the attack,” Barot said in his complaint.

“Later the B division police station was informed about this incident. The police took two persons involved in an assault to the police station and asked me to file a police complaint. As I was injured, my friend Girishbhai called 108 emergency service and roped in an ambulance, through which I was taken to a civil hospital in Mahesana from the police station. The doctor treated me and admitted me to surgical ward. I have suffered injuries in my neck, stomach, back and left hand. Those who attacked me were Bhagat, Darbar, Mahadev and Ashish Patel along with other four persons whom I can identify physically. They damaged the banners that we had put up,” a complaint further stated in his complaint.

The accused are booked under IPC sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 323, 324, 403 and 504. DeshGujarat
