Education society in Morbi urges govt to reconsider decision to introduce English from class 1
June 12, 2022
Morbi: The trustee of Shishumandir in Morbi has met the education minister urging him to reconsider the government’s decision to introduce English as a subject right from class 1.
The government had recently taken a decision to start teaching English verbally in class 1 and 2 and just as any other subject from class 3 onwards.
Giving reasons for his stand, the trustee said that a child’s primary education must be done in the same language which it has been hearing in the mother’s womb. Any child, till it turns 10, must be taught in the mother tongue.
Just as the body develops in stages, the development of the mind and the intellect also happens in stages. Just as a 6-month old infant cannot be fed vegetables and flatbread, teaching English to children between 6-10 years of age would be a burden on their minds. DeshGujarat
