College in Bhavnagar urges students to join BJP; Opposition Outraged, Principal Resigns
June 28, 2022
Bhavnagar: The NC Gandhi Mahila College in Bhavnagar issued a circular mandating students to join the BJP’s Page committee. This move sparked outrage among Congress and NSUI workers. Eventually, Principal Ranjanbada Gohil resigned from her post amid this controversy.
On June 24th, the college issued a circular requiring students to bring passport-size photos and mobile phones with them. They were required to do so, as the college wanted them to join the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and become a member of its “Page Committee”.
Bhavnagar city’s Congress and NSUI members protested this incident in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office on the University Campus. The AAP also opposed this event in Surat City, a CR Patil stronghold. They accused the principal of following the BJP’s orders. They demanded an explanation and accountability by the entity responsible for this. Amid such chaos and her image being tarnished, the Principal of NC Gandhi Mahila College resigned from her post, stating personal reasons for doing so. DeshGujarat
