26 out of 31 polytechnics in Gujarat don’t have principal
January 21, 2023
Gandhinagar: 26 out of 31 polytechnic colleges in the state have been running without a full-time principal for a few years.
The association of polytechnic college teachers have now written a letter to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel seeking the appointment of principals as soon as possible. The letter says that the appointment is not being done because the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is in process of revising the recruitment rules.
According to the sources, Polytechnic institutions have been asked by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) to apply for certification, but those that do not have full-time principals will not be allowed to do so because one of the requirements for approval is that the colleges have permanent principals.
Therefore, the teachers association has urged the government to promote in-charge principals to full-time posts if recruitment was not possible. DeshGujarat
