3 years past deadline six-laning of Rajkot – Ahmedabad highway still incomplete
January 30, 2023
Rajkot: The conversion of the 215 kilometres long four-lane Rajkot- Ahmedabad highway into a six-lane highway is still not complete 3 years after the passing of the deadline.
The six-laning work was supposed to be over in January 2020. However, RTI replies reveal that the two contractors responsible for 4 sections of the highway have defaulted, and only 40 to 50 per cent of the work is over.
RTI activist Shailendrasinh Jadeja told media, that he received the replies to two RTI applications 20 days back. The replies reveal that no warning was issued to the contractors by the National Highway Division before the deadline for the project completion ended.
The delay in the project has left commuters with numerous traffic diversions, road blockages, and hardship in travelling. DeshGujarat
